simple sights

Architecture can be simple
Life's Directions can be simple

Patterns and our imprints can be simple

Taking it a moment to think might be simply necessary

(to those of you scared off by the outpouring of emotions in the blog the last week, I understand - I am a Scorpio and intense. to those who hung in there, i appreciate you allowing my candor. to everyone - i am going away for a long weekend and i plan on thinking and meditating - a lot. this will be very good)

Out of the Blue

This sun roof gives you the world through ultra sky tinted windows. Feels a bit like being underwater.

How could she merely be a car's hood ornament, I ask.

More photos from the weekend.

I took close to 250 shots, so don't be a vintage hater, otherwise this week is gonna be a l o n g one for ya.

But of course, not everything in my photos will be old. Look at this sweet little one right here - why, he's got less than a year on him.

PS: I promise to tell you the "full" dog story, when I get out of my moodies and can find my cadence for the telling of it. Rounding off the corners, leaving only the best, prime cut for the likes of all of you.

Get me to the greenery!

Oh, we're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave
(music tinkling in the background).

So, I put on a dress and a pair of striped knickers in case anyone could see my nether regions and hopped on my bike for pretty much the whole day. It was the best way to keep cool, keep my sanity and work on my sincere desire to be able to sport a two piece this year (gravity, "feminine changes" and my baking possibly working against me on this score- damn!)

I took some of my new *loot* from the yarn bin out to do a little yarn bombing that crafty event when a pair of knitting needles and a splash of yarn collide with an unsuspecting post, bike rack or tree limb. It was marvelous fun to sit in the shade and knit.

You know what they say about the goddess Aphrodite, the birds and the bees and whatall? I saw more couples walking hand in hand, all dreamy eyed in that park that I wondered if, truly, human mating season was not upon us. If we had a season. Lord, that park must be famous for it. Never got the memo.

You know how it goes - you wear a color, you are attracted all day to things that are that color - all of a sudden I notice that my yarn and I match!

I was so lucky! From my grassy perch I spied just the place to put my knit up. It wasn't planned, but just more of that lovely serendipity that in fact does seem to be flowing this week.

The parks department were out mowing the grass initially - but me and the knitting outlasted that - and soon we were home free to put the wee bit of knit graffiti in it's new place. Dreaded Parks Dept. - take all the fun out of the fuzzy art.

Look - it matches!

Isn' t this just such a pretty spot?

Close up of the lovely pink ruffle that signifies its girlish pride.

Oh my! ( she thinks hurriedly, blushing a bit) If this truly is the mating season - maybe this is a knit up's way of signaling that they are, well, you know - uhmmm, interested in being chatted up?

Better run by and check that things haven't gotten to out of hand at the park there.

What to do, what to do ... I have lost the Pinky too!

Celeste, a.k.a. Pinky - I have known her ever since I moved to this lovely little town of ours 3 years ago. We befriended one another. She is still a young woman, with stories to discover, adventures to be wrought, and yet, an old and loving soul resides within. She moves away tomorrow...
She is the best model you could pray for - needs no direction, and looks marvelous in anything. What shall I do without her?
These are a collection of hats that I fashioned for myself after all of the holiday knitting had been done (easy pattern - just made it myself), and the snow just kept on coming. And coming...we really had a lot of the white stuff. This is from a skein of the ever fabulous Noro yarn I love. Yummy colors, don't you think?
This is maybe my favorite. I love orange and I used a precious skein of hand dyed yarn that had little yardage, but lots of attitude.
I love this shot. The unplanned moments of life reveal so much.
This picture is one in a million - she is beautiful, as the sun sets in the background on her last day with all of us. We all came out to hang with the Pinkster and say our good byes.
I made this one first- and it has the most spacious headroom. Your hair could be tied up in a knot and you could still get this baby on and stay warm. Some of the yarn used in this was from a society that helps to protect the Snow Leopards and it is hand spun, hand dyed camel yarn from cottage industries overseas, paired with other scraps to make the yarn last for the project and as you might see on the ear flaps, add some dimensionality to the coloring.
All of the hats I fully lined, including ear flaps, with a complimentary color of fleece. Toasty for the head - ready for any more freakishly cold weather that may come our way. Totally overindulgent of me - three more hats!? Oh my...maybe it's time to grow some extra heads...
