wormy and squirmy came to rest upon a cake

the worms crawl in
the worms crawl out
if you want a cute cupcake
you are in the wrong crowd

some visitors fly in the face of squirmy, wormy fare
Flat Moogie, visiting from moogieland
is completely aware
and still has not a care
as long as she gets chocolate on demand
and all rights to the licking spoon

this is where the ucky, yucky baked cakes met their final resting place
the festivities were on and the crowd was smacking their lips
many of the cup sized morsels would be but a brief but sinfully sweet memory

wanna make some of these graveyard delights?

First -
use a cake mix, follow the directions for cupcakes, but put some LUV into it girls, add chocolate milk instead of water, or buttermilk and when it comes to the oil - maybe use that stuff we call butter

Then -
take an 8oz of cream cheese (okay, this could be lowfat), room temperature, and half a bag of semisweet chocolate chips that you have melted carefully on a double boiler on the stove. whip together, add a teaspoon of vanilla for good measure, and approx. 3 cups of powdered sugar. frost right away.

Decorate -
with crumbled oreo cookies (about 7, without the creamy middles), and some gummi sour worms. makes it look like death warmed over at the cemetery.

Flat Moogie will be visiting madlycreative for a few days - so stay tuned to her crazy antics. she is from the south - who knows what that might end up being...

halloween can make you happy

here is my wee little holiday bag
that brings in the halloween cheer
and adds the right amount of dash
to every autumn outfit

here is the cupcake that i ate
it was a gift
fresh from the baker's hands
and went straight to my tummy
via the camera lens
and then, really, went straight into my tummy

a jack o'lantern toothy grin
for all who believe in the pumpkin patch
the tooth fairy
and a good sweet tooth
whose craving was blessedly filled

i'm a knit alien

i feel like an alien
lost slightly in a world that seems strangely familiar
but the road map went missing
i am good at blending in
everyone believes i belong

and that nothing is amiss
but i truly am green and gooey on the inside, where it counts

so if i seem a little aloof
take it as sign

that i am deep in thought

or just very confused

leaves flutter to the ground
and they have seen their cycle
met their purpose

winter winds herald hibernation and snow
the cover the creeps to still your mind
swallow the ground
slow things down

golden treasures
if only we knew where to dig

topsy turvey alien knitwit
bemused
bewildered
still

oh the fun, the fantasy, the flair

streamers blowing, billowing in the air and hanging out like they just don't care
we should be like a bit of tinsel twisting in the wind
flocks flowing
panties showing
crisp bit of sparkle dressing up our skies

makes you wanna just jump in and have your hands full of wonder and creation
hang your flag, call out your signs
just glad to be getting there
full of good intentions and breathless speed

jubilant life fully embraced feminine fun
Magenta
photo op
fully realized
yeah

beat your own drum
make a noise and wriggle free of your confines and convictions
forget that there are a dozen fanfares and write your first one
make it rich
and clanging
so you can reverberate your truth
all the way down to your soul

it's an invasion

don't take me off to the rubber room just yet
this is all beyond my control
my city is overrun with these little yellow suckers
looking cute, trying to "fit in"
they even have been trying to pass themselves off as people I know

i can' t lie
i am smitten by the soft and sometimes squeaky nature of this waterlogged beasts

my friend, Deb, these are all her little creations
we are celebrating our little town this weekend and on Sunday
hundreds of these little rubber duckies will go on a float down our main river drag

i had to share our local shennanigans with you
okay, not everyone is into the fun
some have been overheard to say
f*ck the duck

party poopers, one and all
probably have an aversion to the color yellow
maybe they never had bathtime play toys
that could be remedied
floating down the river with 500 rubber duckies would make anyone look at life from a sunnier perspective

Sweet! I am back online again!

Oh my, oh golly - how wonderful to have my little fingers caressing the keyboard of my laptop once again! I have grown quite accustomed to this particular strain of creativity (that wondrous thing called blogging) , and relish the fact that not only do I have it back, but I have some fun new tools (Photoshop CS4!!) to begin to learn and play with! Watch out, world - Mama's gotta brand new toy - and she ain't gonna be afraid to use it none, either!

So, in honor of my sweet return - I wanted to share some photos that are tickling my sweet tooth at the moment. Cupcakes, of course, are always on the top of my indulgence list... I made these for my friends and they were lemony lemon, through and through.

Next would have to be my dear friend wrapped up in this boa of pinkness. A gift from a departing friend (we miss you Pinky!) How lovely can it be to have a friend that brings you gifts at her own going away gathering? Yep, we are blessed.

Last but not least - these amazingly colorful crayons from Wacky Crayons. I am in special love with Dragonflies, so this particular shape had great resonance with me. I wanted to just sit down and color all day, but I was with my Mom and she still won't let me do those things - even though I am old enough to disagree with her and have my own way. Damn - I gotta grow out of that sometime soon. In the meantime, I'll just get on the Internet (hehe! so nice to have my computer back - I can't even tell you!) and order some to play with on my own. I'll tell you all about it later - maybe encourage you to start coloring too.
