just what did i "fall" into?

where do i go when it's fall and the skies never dry?
hibernation with a pair of knitting needles
and a slew of good movies
stir in a good book or two
chased down with a cup of hot tea
heaven on earth

doing stuff to pay the bills
making stuff to put under december's tree
writing a second blog about my town
can take a girl right away from the blog she loves best

wet woods
darker skies
shorter days
woollies and toes warmers
battling bugs that come back around and again
sending summer cottons scooting to the back of the clothing den

hooting owls
shot last winter
encased in hand painted frames
and knit i-cord and fallen twigs
i haven't been lazy, you see
just jumbled up in the changing of the season guard
confused by the fading sun
still reinventing my wheel
and, well, hibernating

i'm a knit alien

i feel like an alien
lost slightly in a world that seems strangely familiar
but the road map went missing
i am good at blending in
everyone believes i belong

and that nothing is amiss
but i truly am green and gooey on the inside, where it counts

so if i seem a little aloof
take it as sign

that i am deep in thought

or just very confused

leaves flutter to the ground
and they have seen their cycle
met their purpose

winter winds herald hibernation and snow
the cover the creeps to still your mind
swallow the ground
slow things down

golden treasures
if only we knew where to dig

topsy turvey alien knitwit
bemused
bewildered
still

creature comforts

lasso your secret and best kept desires
lay into a new world beyond the realm of which you are keepin
attack the creature and consume the comforts
chip away at the chocolate you crave and conspire

out of the oven
fresh and brimming with bubbles of you
sweetness that kindles and cavorts
taste what you long to set free

maybe your are partaking of the wrong cup of tea
something to sooth you
not far from where you began
easier if you could have the vision
it need not be so sweet for the sustenance it would bring
fills all needs and appetites

Message for the Blogosphere:

times are materially tough, and you feel the pressure, the tightening of the financial purse strings, the constrainment in your daily forays. do what you need to do, don't sacrifice too readily for you may do yourself undue harm. do only what is level, your level best as it were. sharing to make the load less, caring to make the times softer, harboring less doubt and more a sense of a bigger vision that takes you back to your basic self, the one you came in with, the one that knows what you truly crave when things get a little down.

sketches in green minty fresh

window onto a portion of my everyday swirl
green vintage yarn scored from thrifting
a xmas sweater in the making
neighborhood blooms
breathtaking in the colors
the transect and contrast
behold
life's little treasures in funk
swerve and petal

hello my friends, i really appreciate your presence

bubble pop gee whiz

might it only take a trip outside
to chase the cobwebs
coat them with glossy shine
colorize them
create "happy"stance?

bubble pop
gum gooey drop
i can open wide and drop the goodness inside

no need to select
whatever rolls down the shoot is mine
kaleidoscope of tones
flavors nearly natural
no need to grab what soon at hand will be mine

knitting for the nearly new
my little niece has just turned two
she points to her knitgear that she proudly wears
and with her wee deep voice delares
"auntie made this"
my heart skips a beat and pumps for joy

for her
anything
my knitting needles do fly
this is my happy thought for many a life mile

sewin' it up

sew, you know what i am doing today?
all of that sewing that keeps piling up around the machine
until it cascades to the floor and i stumble, fall, curse, and scream
then i pick the mound up and vow to get to work
today is that day
(i think, i hope, i PRAY)

ever since my first trip through europe and happily, through finland
i stop for the designs and colorways of marimekko
i found this large cotton shirt at the thrift store for a dollar
today, before even getting dressed to for the almost autumnal weather outdoors
(1o days ago in the high 90's!!)
i took up the shoulder seams and a little tapering at the sides

can't stop making these creatures
they sprung from a knit "tart and cookie" pattern
but somehow they became alive
knit monsters from outeryarnspace

this maybe the face of the pinkypurl alien
or it may just be a cry from me for help
lift the curse of insane stitching up of otherworldly fluff and squish

cupcake anyone? this one is lavender laced
precious!! purfectly purpley pink calories - ohhhhh

the top
worn with my lucky charms necklace that changes daily
rolled up jeans
silver converse sneaks
and a coat
'cuz it got cold here

(ps when i have to work for rent, i can't seem to create so much. now i am "inbetween" temp gigs, looking for the next buck, but having a great time returning to my creative homefront. can i ever find a life that somehow offers both? oh, i am so ever trying....)

project pretty

buy a wooden frame at someplace like Ikea, where they have them in packs of four, or a thriftstore (don't spend much)
get some white paint and a paintbrush and then cover the frame with the paint (duh)

knit a piece of icord that is approximately the length of the outside edge of the frame
this will give you a little extra to play with
secure the loose ends
(get playful - i used 2 colors in rotation in mine)

get out the glue gun (good, i love saying that! shiver me timbers!)
carefully apply a little glue at a time down the center of the frame
then press the icord down firmly to hold it in place
round out the corners
maybe do a practice run without the glue first

isn't that easier than you thought?
don't you just love glue guns??

i left the left lower handside where i began gluing open at the very bottom
so that when i came back around from the right handside i could
kinda loop them over one another
i printed off a photo of one of my knit cupcakes with a little phrase
"put your photo here"
in the center
so people would get the right idea
and not think they had to live with a photo of some fiber dessert in their living rooms
just because i would
hummmm

fearless friday

i have a bag of tricks
and i am not afraid to use them
can't let the rest of living get between me
and the craft of life
that i heartfully signed on for

sometimes you forget why you are doing what you do
it's really just to get to the really fun stuff
like yarny bits
making a statement in your craft
and keeping yourself amused

got a notion
to create a commotion

balls of fiber
binds me to a thought
a concept
a creation in time

snaggletooth eruptions of cosmic crafty wonder
the ahhhh at the end of the day
when your hands find sound purchase
the cares and woes of nonevents fade
and you wind down to dreams of
the next guerrilla yarn exploit
