summerlicious

summer fun the colors of summer remembering to stop remembering to summer

hot weather
always makes me want to have fried food -
must be my memories
baseball parks filled with little leaguers, swim meets in Southern Cal, bowling alleys with beer and fries

i can pull over in a minute to look at a sky that has the action of Zeus within it's airy grasp

little morsels of heaven - a no no for me, but a definite YES for summer

Summer sleepy and tent sore - I'm back

Catching up on your daily dose of color today, are you?
Camping color, at your service.

Folks did look at me funny - the toys from the kids games were more amusing to me than the mandatory off-colored jokes after the beer was getting drained.

But kids do have the most fun camping - this tree frog made lots of friends and everyone had to take a gander at his incredible coloring.

Me

This hammock was in constant use this long weekend - and I made sure that my behind was in the rotation of users. I did not meditate. I did not ponder my navel and wonder how in world I would discover the next job/career out there for me.

I just was.
And that felt exactly right.

Trying to think pretty thoughts

Pretty photos, flowers that seem unbearably beauteous, summers that take flight leaving you in breathless wonder - these are the things to bear in mind these days. Okay, so that is my own pep talk, I just thought I would share it with you.

I am still loving the vintage grove I have been sharing here - so, I am just going to keep on rolling. Love the car, want the car. Can I have the car?

Silly Ms. Kinkski thinks she can battle The Joker and win! Why must we always like the bad boys, huh girls? We think we can outwit them, but our hearts start beating for two instead of thinking only of ourselves, and before we know it - our emotions are inflamed, but we are the only ones self-destructing. Sometimes I hate boys - mostly because they should be men by now.

Why despair when summer is about silly fun sometimes? Icecream that you make by hand, romance novels that let you disappear for an afternoon, New Moons that make you want to recreate your own paradigm.

I love astrology - as a way of navigating the waters when I feel I need a little rudder to help guide my sometimes wandering "float".

Molly, dear friend Molly, at About.com writes a great blog here. Check her out, please.

Samantha is trying her chops out and deserves an audience - see her latest here.

Happy Summer Solstice

I'll be missing you!

I am detoxing - no, nothing as bad as all that (images of Robert Downey in rehab, be gone!)

No - I just have been a little more, well, round in places than I would like to be. I am blaming it on the Carbs. You know them - you invite them to dinner, you try to serve something healthy, but before you know it they are forcing their luscious desert on you before the appetizer has even been served. Carbs never met a green colored leafy thing they ever liked - aren't even partial to festive colored jimmies sprinkled about either, come to think of it.

Just days ago I was laboring over my third quadruple batch of blonde brownies and giving them away as fast as I could - okay, a few got kept at home. Probably a few too many.

I write a blog about my little town - and occasionally eat out to and see what all the fuss is about. Sigh - I will miss those outings. For a wee minute - or two. Boy, those fries were good... damn you luscious looking carbs!

I needed motivation - think off stage right, director yelling "imagine it's summer, and hot and you are putting on your two piece for a late night dip". What!!??? The two piece has shrunk, the beach coverup seems a wee bit short, and I really hate, ohhhhh loathe, the process of buying the "I need a larger size" suit.

Nope - just not gonna do it. SOooo, I am detoxing, feeling rather s l o w and meh, but I am determined.

(Love and a Licked Spoon - I will have to bake with you another day - and I will get there, have no fear. I will send a shot of me with a slice of Mango Upside Down Cake before the summer is through.)

Just a moment please

I slammed my index finger in the car door today. It's my photo taking finger, its my "push the stitches to the other needle" while knitting finger, it's the finger that seems to know where all of the letters on the keyboard are the best. The rest of my hand seems to just follow it's lead.

It throbs still, it has the beginnings of deep purply stuff under the nail. My Mom wonders if I will have a nail on that finger to get gussied up with nail polish when I dress to impress. (I cringe when she begins this line of pondering).

It's like I am hobbling around, but just the top portion of my body is afflicted.

I don't know why my hand was so slow leaving the car today. No morning caffeine yet? Not excited about garage sale game plan? Feeling disassociated from the other extremities?

We'll talk - when things cool down and I can hold a rational, non judgemental conversation. Right now - I just don't feel very understanding.
